HS2 Slow Compared to Japan's 374 MPH Train

A handout picture provided by the Central Japan Railway Co shows a screen displaying the current speed of a maglev train in Yamanashi Prefecture, central Japan, 21 April 2015

The Japanese Maglev Train has broken its own world speed record  by traveling at 374 MPH. The train that runs on electrical charged magnets was build at a cost estimated at   £67bn and is hoped to be on use between  Tokyo and Osaka.

Compare this to HS2 which at a cost of £52bn and already over budget and will travel at half the speed for about the same cost.
